  1. The years in college vary depending on the degree you shoot for. There's a difference between Bachelor's and Master's you know.

You'll need to study Forensics and Criminology. If you're hemophobic or have a faint heart, I suggest another line of work. You'll be seeing some gruesome things.

You need to be pretty smart too. You have to solve the puzzles, and all the pieces won't always be there.

As for pay, it's not as good as it should be. I think they can bring n $100,000 on a good year, but that's if you're really good.

  2. From the State of Michigan:

    Job Duties, Experience required:

    Pay Scale:

  3. All schools  have counselors to help with that, the counselor should be able to tell you exactly where to start, how much they make and so on..

Now, if is something you really want to do, I think doing what you love is better than money.

see you can have a highly payed job, but be miserable doing it.

    get my point?

    Good luck

  4. Unless you're a subject matter expert, you're not making much.

  5. u can do it

  6. Hmm.. I've always wanted to take a course along the lines of Criminology and Forensics too. I also want to be a CSI of some sort... but I dont think they get paid very well unless they're really really good at what they do. I ended up taking up nursing, coz i still get to help other people this way WHILE THEY'RE STILL ALIVE and not dead. :-)

  7. You'll need, at a minimum, a 4-year degree in Forensic Science, although a Doctorate's or Master's will look better on resumes.

And you probably won't make that much money, unless you specialize in a specific field, such as Forensic Entomology.  Entomology is the study of Insects, in case you were wondering.  Forensic Entomologists can estimate how long a corpse has been dead based on the insects found inside it, and at what developmental stage the bugs are at.

I don't work in the field, but I can tell you with certainty that its nothing like TV.
