  1. The FBI publishes a Uniform Crime Report by state, and that state normally publishes rates by the city. You will not find crime rates by specific addresses online, but your local PD may be able to do a serach.

Here is the FBI website: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm

Try searching your state and "uniform crime report" to get more specific information.

  2. In most large cities the local police department has a mapping site. It breaks down the crimes in your local police beat. Here is an example from Chicago http://gis.chicagopolice.org/

It usually does not give you the crime rate, which is the number of times a certain type of crime happens per hundred thousand in population.

The FBI is charged with keeping those statistics. Just go to fbi.gov.

Read any introductions to the Uniform Crime Report so you can understand what you are seeing. All police departments are required to submit crime information on their part 1 crimes to the FBI

Interestingly some Realtor organizations maintain web sites with that information. It depends on the town/area and the association.

Perhaps you could suggest to google that they set up a simple to use site that aggregates that information. Something like GoogleCrimeSearch.
