Question:

Criminal Domestic Violence?

by  |  earlier

I'm a female and I got arrested for criminal domestic violence, because of visible marks on my (ex) fiance's body compared to me that I had no visible marks. Unfortunately, I got arrested for it (the police appeared like they didn't want to take me but it had to be a judgement call). Anyways, my court date is soon and I can't afford to have this charge on my record- i'm going to school to get my Master's so this could cause me a lot of problems with school and future work. What steps should I take.

By the way, my (ex) fiance wants to get back with me and his son and appoligizes for being DRUNK the arresting night and blowing things out of proportion...so, he does not want to press any charges and is not going to court....THAT IS WHAT HE SAID.

  1. It is so depressing to hear of a woman involved in this kind of violent relationship that I think I'll just leave others to give you some advice.  Please, please get your life together and be a better person.

  2. If they do it once, they always do it again.

If they do it once, they always do it again.

    Explain yourself to the court.

    Stay far away from him.

    You asked.

    Truth lives.

    Good luck.

  3. If they show up in court and say it was horseplay which got out of control or admit to being drunk, then the judge will likely offer anger management and rehab which upon completion of the programs, the charges will be dismissed- once. If it ever happens again the original charges will be reinstated and have two counts and probably go to prison.

Domestic Violence is no joke and can really s***w peoples lives up with anything from being denied credit, renting apartments, getting jobs and more.

You all need to know how serious this is. You are all guilty and need to convince the court that you will work this out on your own.

This isn't a lecture- its a very real reality that could follow you all around for the rest of lives.

  4. It is not up to your ex as to whether or not charges are filed. Most states now have a domestic violence law (thank OJ for that). When officers arrive, they see the evidence, and have to arrest.

Suggest you get a good attorney................
