Criminal Record Result?

I just had my criminal record check completed in Canada. The result was "Failed to Reveal a Record" I know I have no criminal background but that wording sounds funny to me. It means I they did not find a record on me right?

  1. That is correct, they were unable to find a record. That doesn't mean it does not exist, that just means they did not find it.

  2. You had a standard computer record check done by name and date of birth, probably by your local police department.  They enter the information on the police computer (CPIC) and get an instant response. The best result that can be obtained this way is the one you got.  If you want a full record check done with official no-record results you must have your fingerprints taken and submitted to the RCMP for comparison with police fingerprint records.  The first check (yours) is usually for standard employment, volunteer work, etc.  The more formal one (with fingerprints) is when the check must have a no-record confirmation ... ie. foreign visa applicants, employment high security positions (ie.police, casino employee, etc.)  Hope that helped!!
