Question:

Criminology major hoping for help in finding my dream job...Crime victim Services?

I'm a criminology major right now (two more years left) and I'm hoping to take my degree to a couple different ways....either A crime victim services advocate ..counselling rape and abuse victims, but I realize that is tough w/o having a social worker degree, is there any way around that? are criminal justice majors allowed to do anything like that? also another aspect I've thought about going down is child advocate. is this realistic...? If I had to pick I'd rather work at a CVS center... but I don't know if my sociology degree (criminology) will allow me to dabble in the parts I want. I feel I can relate and consulte girls or boys in these situations and i hold it dear to my heart, which is why I want to ultimately do that.

Any suggestions, tips, hints or help would be appreciated! thanks!!!!

its great that u hv passion for such work.  its not easy getting pple to do these as it doesnt pay.  so pl bear this is mind - whatever it is, dont look at $$ look within yurself and your passion.  both r good.  u can get a diploma or some cert in counselling / social work that will help u do social work. yes your socio degree is wide enough for u to do many things.  u can start by volunteeering at a local centre and chalk up soc work hrs.  that will help.  u may end up doing a masters in soc work instead.  try and give it a shot
