Crippling fear of spiders... HELP!?

Okay, this is going to sound really stupid but... okay, I was cleaning the kitchen and I moved the stove so I could mop under it and I saw a HUGE brown recluse. I am horrified of spiders and I'm not joking when I say that I almost fainted. Well, I found a full can of spider killer under the sink and I emptied the whole can on it. It finally died after trying to swim away in the pool I made for it. Okay, so here is the problem... I'm scared to clean it up. I know it's ridiculous, but I am. My husband is away and there is no one I can call to take care of this for me. So I need creative ideas on how I can be rid of it w/o having to ... touch it. Just looking at a spider makes me sick. I tried using play dough stuck to the end of a hammer and then squishing the spider into the dough but there is too much bug killer to make it stick... help.

  1. Well my sister has the same problem. i always duct tape a plastic cup on a stick and scoop it up, but if that's too much hassle take an adhesive i.e. tape, glue... and get it on the mess and it'll stick.

  2. Wad up a bunch of paper towels, then bunch them into a mass. Sweep the whole mess into a duspan & dump it.

If I were you, I'd spring for an exterminator. I'm not afraid of spiders, but that kind is poisonous!

  3. Please know that an actual brown recluse are not "huge".  They are only about 1/4 in to 3/4 inch.  Put a paper towel over the critter and leave it for hubby upon his return.... or...believe it or not - the police will come do it...  I was a patrolmen for a while and was asked to get spiders out of a womens home...
