acrimonious fashion.
A new club and a new atmosphere, the veteran defender gave an interview to beIN Sport where he spoke about his early experiences at Galatasaray.
“Here it’s a mess (laughs). If you have a meeting at 14:00, you must leave your house at 12:30. I scored my first goal which was good for the confidence, it gives confidence to supporters here. They sing the whole game, they are fanatics.”
On a year-long contract, Cris has refused a move away from the club in the upcoming winter transfer window. However, the player still has a tinge of regret regarding the manner in which he was pushed out of the club by the management.
Eight years at a club is indeed a big time period considering how many footballers show nomadic tendencies in terms of changing sides constantly. Cris was keen on ending his time at Stade de Gerland but it was not to be.
“The first person to accept the arrival of Remi Garde, I think it was me. Leaders came to me and asked me if I thought he could be our coach, and I said yes, of course.”
Not spiteful by an means, the former Ligue 1 champion is nonetheless sad at the way he was shown the door by the very people who had known him for such a long time. Cris says that president Jean-Michel Aulas should have at least informed him of his decision
face to face.
“What I regret is that the president did not call me to explain to me everything, but I understand that the club was in trouble.”
