The Italian national urges his team to win the upcoming Russian Cup tie against the Moscow-based club and assured the fans of a neat performance at Petrovsky stadium.
Zenit St. Petersburg defender, Domenico Criscito, has warned his side against Dynamo Moscow, revealing that the Dinamiki will seek to avenge their 5-1 Russian Premier League defeat against the Meshki, when the two teams meet in
the upcoming Russian Cup quarter-finals at Petrovsky stadium.
The Meshki managed to reach the round-of-16 after defeating Dynamo Bryansk 2-0 on the away turf, while Dynamo advanced to the quarter-finals after winning against Anzhi Makhachkala 1-0 at home.
The reigning champions will now meet the Musora at home for the first time since their emphatic league win at Arena Khimki, and Criscito believes that the Dinamiki will put in a stronger performance despite their heavy defeat earlier
this month.
The former Genoa player admitted that Zenit will be up against one of the league’s best sides irrespective of the Moscow-based club’s poor league form under Sergei Silkin this season.
Criscito added that the Louders' recent slump in form will not be a deciding factor in the upcoming cup encounter and assured the fans of reaching the semi-finals of the cup tournament.
“We played quality football during the league game against Dynamo and deserved to claim a big win. But I think they will be hard to defeat in the cup match. We cannot relax in any case because I have seen Dynamo playing decent
football in the derby against CSKA Moscow.
“I want to play well in front of the home fans against Dynamo and want to help the club reach one step closer to the cup final.” The former Juventus player was quoted as saying.
Speaking on Zenit’s domestic form, Criscito admitted that they managed to turn the tables after recording consecutive draws in the opening games against CSKA Moscow and Kuban Krasnodar during the third league round.
As things stand, the Russian outfit sits atop the league table, 6 points above the second-placed Armeytsy.
