Cristiano Ronaldo can be stopped with a rope, suggests Osasuna’s Ruben – La Liga News
Osasuna’s Ruben Gonzalez Rocha had quite an interesting suggestion to help stop Real Madrid sensation, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, ahead of his side’s clash with the Spanish Giants.
Ruben has revealed that it is quite difficult, as a defender, to mark or stop Los Blancos number 7. He suggested that one possible way to stop Ronaldo would be with the help of a rope.
Ronaldo’s current form for Los Blancos is enough justification for Ruben’s comical suggestion. The Portuguese international recently scored his one hundredth goal for Real Madrid, in their Champions League clash against Olympique Lyonnaise.
The 26-year-old Portuguese has managed to find the back of the net 100 times for Los Blancos in a total of 105 appearances.
Ronaldo’s brace against the French club helped Jose Mourinho’s men overcome Lyon in their home stadium, Stade de Gerland. Winning against Lyon at the Gerland has always been considered quite a thorny task, particularly by the nine-time Champions League winners.
Last season, Ronaldo was awarded the Pichichi award for being the highest goal scorer in La Liga. He also managed to break the record for the highest number of goals in one season in the Spanish Primera, which was previously held by Telmo Zarra and Hugo
Sanchez at 38 goals. Ronaldo went two steps better by scoring 40.
The Portuguese captain has been in magnificent form this season as he has managed to score a total 10 goals so far this season.
Unfavorable for Osasuna, Jose Mourinho’s men have been in unstoppable form so far into this season’s campaign.
However, Ronaldo is always considered a special threat to every team that plays in opposition of the Spanish giants. Hence, Ruben emphasized particularly on Ronaldo’s ability to evade and go past the best of defenders.
While talking to the press, the Osasuna defender was quoted as saying:
"How do you stop Ronaldo? With a rope. I don't really know, we will see during the game.
"Real Madrid are in a great moment of form and they are getting some good results. They also qualified from their Champions League group. However, despite Real Madrid's strengths, we will play the game with everything we have."
