Cristiano Ronaldo hails Alex Ferguson as best manager in the world
Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has hailed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as “the best coach in the world”.
Ferguson plucked Ronaldo from relative obscurity after he played against the Red Devils for Sporting Lisbon in a friendly game in the summer of 2003.
Ronaldo’s rapid development while playing under the Scot at the English Premier League giants helped him to become widely regarded as one of the best players in the world.
During his time at United, Ronaldo — who moved to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2009 — picked up three EPL winner’s medals and also lifted the European Cup when the club won the UEFA Champions League in 2008. He was also named as the FIFA World Player
of the Year in 2008.
When asked by publication, Metro, how Ferguson compares to his boss at Madrid, Jose Mourinho, Ronaldo said that: “In some ways, they are alike — they both have plenty of experience and have won all there is to win in football.
'Ferguson is my friend'
“The only difference that comes to my mind is that one is older than the other. I loved working with Sir Alex. We got on really well and today he is my friend. From where I am concerned, Sir Alex Ferguson is the best coach in the world.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old also discussed the impact that Mourinho had made on Madrid since the former Chelsea boss moved from Inter Milan over the summer with huge expectations after winning Serie A, Italian cup and UEFA Champions League last season.
Ronaldo said that: “There is more discipline. Mourinho has adjusted the way that we play. He is a fantastic coach, and the titles he has won prove his value.”
Madrid are currently at the top of La Liga and are so far unbeaten in all competitions this season.
