Cristiano Ronaldo reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho is coming to Real Madrid. That is all that the soccer press all over Europe and the world is talking about. Minutes after the Champions League win against Bayern Munich in CL final, the Portuguese manager was confirming that he was joining Real Madrid. No official press conference yet but when a rumor comes out of Madrid, it is already a done deal 90% of the time.
Jose Mourinho's arrival to Real Madrid is only a matter of days, hours. The keys of the Casa Blanca will be given to Mourinho in a few days according to the sensationalist but usually accurate Spanish press. A week before the Champions League final, Jose Mourinho was hinting at coaching Real Madrid. Now, he is openly talking about it with almost no restraints. On Portuguese TV over the weekend, the Special one, who led Inter Milan to its first Champions League title since the 1960's, did not hide his desire to join Spain, specifically the capital Madrid: '' The marriage with Real will be consummated'' said the Special One. Talking of marriage, as per Mourinho, is it more a marriage of love or a marriage of reason? If we all know Mourinho by know, he is always looking for a challenge especially when it is a lost cause, at least a lost cause in the two parties's compatibility.Mourinho said on TVI ''Real, it's an interesting challenge because everyone makes the club's cause a lost one. Because it is the type of club that does not necesarilly match,as a group, my way of working and practice methodes. But it is a challenge to play in a league against Barca that reached 100 points this year and is a superb team. Also winning a Champions League that has eluded the club for 8 years''. The Champions League objectif was the same one when he joined Inter Milan and it took him two years to do so.
According to the Spanish press, the contract with Real Madrid is already set at 4 years, 10 millions euros per season even if Jose Mourinho is not confirming it. '' I have not spoken directly to Real Madrid, my agent did. But the decision is mine to take'' as he explains again to TVi. I need to feel people, take the pulse of the club, know exactly what is expected of me and what conditions are offered to me: not the structures because I know them but on a human level, psychologically. I do not want any doubts before commencing my mission''.
Jose Mourinho has not talked about any potential signings he would want to happen at Real. Do not worry about it Jose, let the Spanish press take care of that for you. The following names have been talked about: Maicon, Ashley Cole, Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba or Steven Gerrard. But Jose Mourinho did mention two players that impressed him and he is guaranteed to have them: Kaka and Karim Benzema. One of Mourinho's objectives is to restart both players careers that seemed to stall a bit in Madrid. He will also try to take Cristiano Ronaldo's game to another dimension, an even bigger dimension. He respects the player and what he does. The Portuguese connection can only help. Mourinho has said to be ''sad'' for his countryman because he is ''missing titles''. It will be Jose's job to get titles back at Real's trophy case,a trophy case that has collected some dust, even for Real's standards.
Mourinho is able to handle the pressure, the egos, the press and the crowd. We will have a lot of that waiting for him at la Casa Blanca. The compatibility in style and philosophy might be hard to see but the match in the willingness to win at all cost makes this marriage a match made in heaven.
