Cristiano Ronaldo scores 4 goals as Real Madrid beat Racing Santander 6-1
Real Madrid is certainly hitting all the right nodes under Jose Mourinho as the Spanish giants notched up another 6-1 win at home in the Spanish La Liga. Who else could have it been except the world’s best player Cristiano Ronaldo who knocked in 4 goals
to complete a rout against Racing Santander at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo was not the only on target, Argentine Gonzalo Higuain and German Mesut Ozil also got a goal each to complete the scoring. Real Madrid went right back to the top of League table, Barcelona had taken over for a few hours after their win against Real
Zaragoza earlier in the evening.
The visiting team did get a consolation goal through Papakouli Diop's deflected effort.
It was the 9th win for Real Madrid this season from 11 competitive games this season; they remain unbeaten and have drawn their other 2 games. Early on when the season started there was some criticism about lack of goals, but all those critics
must have eaten their own words after 2nd 6 goal rout by Jose Mourinho’s team.
Taking into account just last 3 games of Spanish league for Real Madrid, they have scored no less than 16 goals. Before this game they beat Deportivo La Coruna 6-1 and it was Malaga before that that lost 4-1.
The first goal for Real came in the 10th minute; it was the new singing Angel Di Maria who spotted Higuain brilliantly making a run and threaded through a well placed pass. The Argentine took an excellent first touch to steady himself and the
2nd touch saw the ball hitting back of the net.
Gonzalo Higuain who was Madrid’s highest goal scorer last season soon created one after five minutes. It was Cristiano Ronaldo who benefitted from a great piece of skill by Higuain who turned his marker and played in a quick low cross, Ronaldo on his run
got it in his stride and knocked it past the keeper to make it 2-0.
Ronaldo by then was in his elements and Real Madrid were just looking menacing in every aspect of the game. The visiting team knew they were up against it, and the Portuguese captain soon made it 3 before the half hour mark.
Mesut Ozil was who got the ball on the wing and danced his way into the danger area, Ronaldo was on the other flank and made a clever run across the box. Ozil spotted Ronaldo and played a clever little back-heel, the former Manchester United player found
himself right in front of the keeper and slotted it into the net to make it 3.
As the half time whistle blew it was clear which way the points were heading, but looking at the form of Madrid everyone was asking the question that how many goals they would score.
Madrid continued in the 2nd half where they left off, and after 18 minutes it scored the 4th. Di Maria showed another burst of pace and made a darting run into the box, and pulled it back for Ronaldo. The ball was behind him but such is his form
these days he quickly adjusted and turned to take a shot, the ball whistled past the keeper and in top the net it was 4-0 and the hat trick for Ronaldo was complete, he was not done though. 8 minutes later it was 5, as Ronaldo this time had an easier task
of taking a penalty. Di Maria was tripped inside the box, and from the spot the number ‘7’ made it 5 nil and made it 4 for himself. Mesut Ozil finished the scoring with an excellent curler in final minutes of the game.
Real Madrid are now top of the League table on 20 points and lead Barcelona by a slender lead of 1 point after 8 games.
