The former Serbian international personally thinks that Los Blancos player is a more worthy winner of the accolade rather than the Barcelona forward.
As January approaches, the race for the most coveted individual award intensifies, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta shortlisted as the final 3. And only time will tell who actually walks away with the prestigious accolade.
A lot of football related personalities have taken out time to voice their opinions on the matter and Predrag Mijatovic is no different.
However, the former Serbian international team member has stated that while Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta may have had memorable and magnificent seasons of their own, the Portuguese sensation is actually the most deserving to embrace the award.
"I would like it if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 wins it. He has done better than Messi this year in my opinion," Mijatovic told reporters.
Ronaldo’s goals and contribution helped Real Madrid win La Liga title last season from F.C Barcelona after a long 3-year wait.
The Portuguese also led his national team to the semi-finals of the Euro 2012, and his crucial goals helped them overcome very credible oppositions.
Messi’s 86 goals in this calendar year have been seen as the monumental achievement, although lack of titles have hindered the prospect of him rubberstamping his name on the race for the individual honour.
The award is to be distributed on January 7th, and Mijatovic for once will like to see the deserving winner take the accolade.
The former Real Madrid striker also stated that the Spanish La Liga title race is wide open, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have not won anything as yet, as things can change quickly in football.
"It's a significant gap, but we should not forget that May is still far away. There's plenty of football to be played and Barcelona will start spilling points at some point."
Barcelona have opened up a 6-point gap over title chasers, Atletico Madrid, and majestically lead arch-rivals Real Madrid by 11 points.
Such a gap has never been covered in La Liga’s history, and Mijatovic’s former club will have to defy all odds in order to reclaim their crown.
