Cristie Kerr all set for Kingsmill Championship 2012
American Cristie Kerr, who displayed a decent performance in the Evian Masters 2012, is now eyeing one of her most favourite events — the Kingsmill Championship 2012, scheduled to be held from September 6-9,
at  Williamsburg, Virginia.
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament is returning to its old course — Kingsmill Resort, River Course — something Kerr and golf crazy fans have appreciated.
Although the field of the Kingsmill Championship 2012 is going to feature most of the top-ranked LPGA contenders, the spotlight is likely to remain on Kerr, as she has won two editions of the tournament.
The last edition, which was held in May 2009, saw the American star unveil her best performance on the course, and this is why the fans are happy about Kerr being in the roster.
In addition to Kerr, South Korean Se Ri Pak, another past winner who racked up the title in 2004, has also been confirmed to join the field of the Kingsmill Championship 2012.
Pak and Kerr will definitely attract the media and spectators’ attention, but there will be several other players who have what it takes to trouble rivals.
American Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Brittany Lang and Brook Pancake have confirmed their commitment to take part in the much-hyped tournament, and it is expected that the looming battle will keep everyone
involved till the final moments.
The Kingsmill’s River Course is very special to Kerr, as she has already impressed her fans here twice.
The tournament, which was played under the title of the Michelob Ultra Open from 2004 to 2009, was founded in 2003. The event was not held in 2010 and 2011, and the LPGA Tour recently decided to stage it under
a new name — Kingsmill Championship in the 2012 season.
Kerr’s association with the prestigious tournament has been notable, as after the successful completion of its 2009 edition, she had requested the LPGA officials to resume it once again.
Kerr’s performance has been average in the current season, although she has not been able to record a victory since she won the LPGA Championship in June 2010.
Analysts said that despite having an experience, Kerr is likely to face a tough time, as the field will be featuring plenty of star performers.
