Cristie Kerr all set for battle at Kuala Lumpur
Cristie Kerr gave a miss to the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, but she is going to put her skills to the test at the upcoming Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, scheduled to be staged from October
11-14, at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Kerr has not been able to win an LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament since her last victory at the LPGA Championship in June 2010, but the 2012 season has yet to see the
best of the physical aspect of Kerr’s golf.
Observers said that the American star is not going to do what she did in some of the recent tournaments, but she will come up with a different strategy in an attempt to end her protracted
victory drought.
They said that her game is ever improving, and she is set to become a force once again.
Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is going to feature plenty of LPGA stars who have proved their worth on the Tour, but a few have grabbed the headlines — and Kerr is certainly one of them.
At first glance, putting Kerr on the list of most favourite players for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia may seem a bit unrealistic, but the battle at Kuala Lumpur next month will likely see her
shiny side.
South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who is the defending champion of the tournament, will be hard to ignore as she has already vowed to repeat her last-year performance. However, it remains to be seen
how Choi is going to defend her title in the presence of stars like current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer and Kerr.
“It is always a privilege to play at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia tournaments and to compete with the best in the women's game; it will be my third year playing in this tournament and it's
an event I really enjoy as the fans are always so supportive,” Choi said while talking to the media.
Yani Tseng can also trouble players, and she is the one Kerr will want to keep a close eye on.
Tseng came close to a victory at the last edition of the tournament. She displayed an electrifying performance, but lost momentum in the final moments, letting Na Yeon Choi walk away with
the title.
