Cristie Kerr ready for LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012
The LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 will see American Cristie Kerr swing into action when she tees off on October 19, at Incheon, South Korea, but the star golfer’s relationship with the
tournament is different from other contenders.
Kerr got in touch with Hana Financial Group early this year and inked a contract to serve as a global ambassador for the 2012 season.
The American golfer, whose stellar profile boasts 14 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) triumphs including two major titles, is ready to take on rivals as she is in high spirits due
to her commitment with the Hana Bank KEB.
Speaking to the media about what it feels like to play at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship, Kerr said that she is thrilled about the upcoming battle, and most important of all she has to live
up to the expectations of her fans and partner.
The LPGA phenom said that Hana Bank has found a solid foothold on the global scene, and staging a golf event will not only give it an added advantage, but the sport will further flourish in
the country.
“I've been with Hana Bank KEB for almost a year now, and it's been a great partnership. After the first Asian swing of events, I came over to Korea and did a couple days for them and was able
to visit the Hana Bank headquarters and visit the fans and see the people that really make Hana Bank a great company,” said Kerr who has been trying to end her victory drought since her last victory at the LPGA Championship in June 2010.
Speaking of her experience with the Tour, Kerr said that she is glad to see the sport finding a foothold in Asian countries, especially South Korea. She added that the ever-increasing number
of young players has fired up veterans like her, which is good for players and the Tour.
But she conceded that the competition is getting tougher and tougher due to the new trend and veterans now find it more difficult than before to prove their mettle.
“I guess I am one of the veterans, but I just turned 35 last week, and I still feel really young. But it's getting younger and younger on Tour every year, and there's so many great players,
especially from Asia”.
