Cristie Kerr stands strong after Lorena Ochoa win
American Cristie Kerr, who ended her winning drought at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational this month, kept her momentum going as she finished the CME Group Titleholders 2012 inside the top 10.
Kerr was one of the few contenders at the season finale, held at The TwinEagles Club, Naples, Florida, who were able to dazzle the entire lineup, but she failed to continue her winning streak.
Kerr finally burst onto the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) scene after some impressive showings for her putting and swing skill in Mexico where she won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational
2012.
The American star fought a nail-biting battle against big names like South Korean Inbee Park and Angela Stanford in Mexico, but managed to inflict a one-stroke defeat on both the contenders.
Before Lorena Ochoa Invitational, Kerr had been under scrutiny after having apparently exhausted all her skills and strength. But a surprise comeback on the LPGA scene has once again put American
players in the limelight.
Similarly, at the CME Group Titleholders, she unveiled her best putting skills on most of the holes. Kerr was considered one of the hot favourites for the prestigious title, but she did better
than most of her fans had anticipated.
Having shot an overall score of 281, Kerr took a share of the seventh position along with Spanish Azahara Munoz, Shanshan Feng and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden.
Kerr has shown herself to have exceptional swing skills, whilst also being a very talented putter. And not only does the LPGA phenom boasts these skills, she knows how to capitalise on them.
Other contenders who gave Kerr a tough time in Florida include Ai Miyazato of Japan. Miyazato impressed the American spectators throughout the four day of the tournament as she registered
an overall 279 to finish fifth on the leaderboard.
Speaking to the media at the end of the third round on Saturday, Miyazato said that she focused on her short game more than anything else.
“It was all about third shot.  I hit perfect driver, second shot, but then third shot, it just went over the green and it was really tough to make up and down and I couldn't get up and down,”
she said.
