Cristobal Arreola, Nagy Aguilera to face off at the Friday Night Fights mega event – Boxing news
Heavyweight professional boxer Cristobal Arreola, who has been impressive fighting against Nagy Aguilera by scoring a dominant third-round knockout, showed his new slimmed-down physical type on Saturday.
The Mexican-American professional Heavyweight boxer does not want to waste his workout time to be one hundred percent fit for the “Friday Night Fights” competition.
The former North American Boxing Federation, World Boxing Council Continental Americans and current World Boxing Council’s Heavyweight Champion Arreola, will be facing Kendrick Releford for their scheduled 10-round bout in the mega event on May 27, 2011.
According to details, the promoter of Nightmare, Dan Goossen has already made the confirmation speaking to the press on Monday.
The other fight card under this mega event was between Josesito Lopez and Steve Upsher Chambers. In that Junior Welterweight fight, Lopez suffered a badly bruised knuckle on his left hand. After that, the fight was called off by the referee because Lopez
was not in a position to take the bout until the end.
“As we all know, if there is one thing about Cris that is a constant, he likes to fight,” Goossen said. “Josesito injured his knuckle and he and Arreola are in the same camp, both trained by Henry [Ramirez], and with the quick night he had Saturday, the
opportunity was there. And, of course, Cris never turns down a fight. He kept that record intact. It's good for everyone. It keeps him busy and keeps him in shape, and the fans in Reno and a national ESPN television audience get to see the new slimmed-down
version of Cris.”
Arreola, who seems to be unimpressive since his last six fights out of which he won 4 bouts, could be the competitive one for his opponent. However, Arreola is looking more focused and one hundred percent fit to compete at his level best.
The couple of losses to his boxing record at this stage of his career are considerable. The 30-year-old professional heavyweight faced the first loss fighting against Vitali Klitschko in 2009. In 2010, he lost the decision again fighting against Tomasz Adamek
at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in California.
