Criticism of British media would not affect Pakistan team’s performance, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292
The legendary Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram, has said that the “stale” pressure tactics of the English players and British media will not affect the performance of the Pakistan team in the next two matches of the three-Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755
currently lead 1-0.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 scythed through the English line up in the series opener at Dubai to return with impressive figures of 10 for 97, as Pakistan won the match comprehensively by 10 wickets and that too inside three days.
Ajmal’s fine bowling against the formidable England batting line up prompted former English players to question his bowling action, and the British media has been at it as well since then.
Akram, a former Pakistan skipper, said that rather than criticizing Ajmal’s bowling action, the English players and media should understand that their batsmen were out of sorts against the off-spinner’s outstanding line and length.
The veteran expressed his annoyance while commentating on the final Test between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Adelaide on Tuesday.
"Instead of saying their team didn't do well and Pakistan played better cricket, they are targeting a special talent. Why it always happens against a sub-continent team," an agitated Akram remarked while commentating at the Adelaide Oval.
"The permissible limit is 15 degrees and he's been tested and tried for bowling well below it. He's been around for 7-8 years. Why suddenly pick on him?" the fast bowler added.
The 45-year-old left-arm fast bowler said that these pressure tactics are old now and are not effective anymore. He further added that such propaganda would gel the Pakistan team even more and might just backfire on Strauss and his men in the next two Tests.
"I don't think it would affect them. Indeed, it would create a positive impact on them. It would motivate them. Instead of being on the back-foot, it would help their cause," said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sultan-c91758 of Swing.
Pakistan currently leads the three-match series 1-0 with the second Test starting at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
Akram also praised http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 for his impressive captaincy record of seven wins in 13 Tests.
