Critics don't bother me, says Austin Rivers - NCAA Basketball News
It is too early to predict Austin Rivers as a future NBA elite player, but the way he has started his college Basketball career with Duke Blue Devils, leading them to a Maui Invitational title just few days ago, the odds are very
much high that he will make his proud dad, Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, more proud in the coming years.
Apart from his exceptional basketball skills, he has the right attitude too which magnifies the probability of him emerging as a future NBA star.
For a 19 year old, he has a rather cool head on those shoulders.
Just few days ago, an article was published on a critics blog owned by ESPN, pointing out Austin’s technical faults.
Instead of lashing out at the writer and his comments, he dealt with it rather maturely, saying he uses critics as an encouragement to do much better.
"I never ever worry about it, Those people's jobs are to critique. The coaches and my teammates are happy with the way I'm playing. It's sports and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm not going to call ESPN and be like, 'Hey,
can you stop that. I see it as motivation and they will be wrong by the end of the year”
Austin has played 7 games for Dukes so far and has only failed once to produce a tally in double figures.  His best performance was against Michigan Wolverines where he piled up his young career-high 20 points.
At the moment, he is averaging around 14 points per game, but when the tournament ends, that average is definitely going to be much higher. All the games Austin has featured in so far, have been on his home court, but now he will
playing his first away game against the Ohio State tonight.
He is excited with the prospect of playing in Ohio and expects a massive assemblage at the arena as he added
"I'm excited for that, that's what college basketball is. That's why people like coming here to Duke to see the Cameron Crazies”
Austin apparently is the sort of player who likes his game to do the talking for him so he will definitely be trying to perform well in this and the next few games to prove his critics wrong.
