Crius to claim first position in Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes at Curragh
Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes is one of the major events at Curragh on Sunday, May 27th. The Group 3 meeting has attracted plenty of high profile entries, but Richard Hannon’s 3-year-old colt, Crius, has the best chance of seizing the top position.
The dashing runner has been producing excellent results since the start of his career, thus confidence is not going to be an issue for him. Moreover, he is in good form these days, as he recently did a fine job on his seasonal debut at Newmarket.
On a not-so-hard surface, he missed the gold medal by a few lengths in the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes. Crius, who likes good ground, is going to enjoy favourable conditions at Curragh.

Aidan O´Brien has won this race six consecutive times and his trainee, Athens, is indeed one of the leading contenders today. However, the 3-year-old might fail to grab the top rank and finish second-best behind the Craven runner-up, Crius.
Athens’ last win came at Navan, where the ground was a bit softer than the one at Curragh today. On a good surface at Longchamp, Aidan O´Brien’s charge could do anything special, finished fifth behind Top Trip last time out.
Tannery is coming into this race after sealing a fine victory on Gowran Park’s heavy ground. On the contrary, Speaking Of Which registered his last success on a good surface at Cork. So, he can be a threat to Crius.
Aidan O´Brien knows this track very well and therefore, his sprinter, Athens, cannot be ruled out of the picture. In the meantime, Speaking Of Which can cause an upset. However, the calculations suggest that Crius will be able to sway things in his favour. Good luck to everyone.
