The Bayer Leverkusen defender believes that a change of tactics in the second half brought the Blazers very close to victory against the Azzurri, and believes that his team can get through to the next round.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vedran-Corluka-c35947 has stressed that Croatia deserved the equaliser after altering their tactics for the second-half, and believes that his team came very close to thrashing Italy in their second group match.
The Azzurri were put ahead in the game through a spectacular free-kick goal by Andrea Pirlo, but Mario Mandzukic’s equaliser in the second-half led the game to a 1-1 stalemate.
Corluka revealed that the tactical changes in the second-half were central to changing the fate of the match for the Blazers. The Croatian defender stressed that the Croats managed to outclass their opponents in the latter part of the game, and stated that
they deserved their sole goal of the match.
The Bayer Leverkusen-man admitted that Italy strikers were a little too hot to handle in the first 45 minutes of the contest, and stated that while Croatia could have won the match they are happy with the single point.
While talking to Croatian TV station HRT, the 26-year-old said:
“We changed tactically in the second half, we were much better and deserved this goal. We were close to winning, but this is still a good result. We had some difficulties in the first half, playing two-on-two too often with Italy’s attackers, who are very
good.”
