Croatia crushes Australia in Men’s Water Polo: Preliminary round Group A – London Olympic Games
Croatia crushed Australia in the preliminary round of Group ‘A’ Men’s Water Polo match on eighth day of the water polo events at the 2012 London Olympic Games in Water Polo Arena on Saturday, August 4.
The Croatian team played very well in the 32-minute game and proved their victory. They served notice of their talent in the first quarter, where they scored two goals while Australia earned just one goal, leaving the score 2-1 after the first quarter.
The same continued in second quarter, where Australia once again scored a single goal but Croatia captured three goals, making the score 5-2 after the first half.
Croatian team continued its dominance in the second half of the game, where they scored three goals each in the third and fourth quarters respectively. In contrast, Australia secured two goals each in the third and fourth rounds, losing the match with an
11-6 effort.
Following that, the crowd enjoyed gruelling efforts of Greece and Spain for the second match of the day. The Spanish players faced tough competition from their opponents in the first quarter, where they scored four goals and Greece found the cage three times.
The same continued in second quarter, where Greece notched up two goals while Spain moved up on the scorecard by securing four goals, making the score 8-5 after the first half.
Subsequently, Greece secured two goals each in the third and fourth quarter while Spain found the cage once in third round and twice in fourth round, enjoying the victory with a score of 11-9.
Last match of the day was among the squads of Italy and Kazakhstan, where Italian team claimed victory. They remained dominant over their opponents from the start as they scored eight goals in the first half against Kazakhstan’s four goals effort.
Similarly, both teams scored a single goal in third quarter while Italy remained at zero in the fourth quarter and Kazakhstan managed to improve their score by a lone goal, but lost the match 9-6 from Italy.
In addition, the Italian team expressed happiness over their feat in their qualifying match after the game.
