Croatia put forth the confirmation for participation in the Power Horse World Team Cup – Tennis News
Power Horse World Team Cup has been able to convince the Croatian Tennis Federation to send its team in the tournament. The squad will consist of the top three Croatian players, Marin Cilic, Ivan Dodig and Ivo Karlovic.
Dietloff von Arnim, the tournament director was ecstatic to have such a startling line-up. In an interview to the media representatives, he mentioned, "Serbia is surely among the title favourites. Especially, because they became
the 2009 Tennis World Team Champions in Dusseldorf with exactly the same line-up."
The tournament has been able to capture big guns from most of the tennis playing nations. The countries that has confirmed their participation in the tournament includes Serbia, Czech Republic, Germany and Croatia.
Serbian team consist of the world number 10, Janko Tipsarevic, Viktor Troicki, Nenad Zimonjic. These players will definitely miss the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic. He is a world class act but considering that he is
associated with several tournaments and plays in the advanced stages of all of them so it is going to be very harsh on him to be part of another national duty apart from the Davis Cup campaign.
The Czech team will feature the likes of seventh ranked, Tomas Berdych, and the doubles specialist, Radek Stepanek. These two players will be playing more matches than others because they are deprived of any other compatriot who
will assist them in playing the ties. They will have to feature in the singles as well as doubles category that will make the tennis schedule to Berdych, one of the most taxing one.
German team has sent lower ranked players that include Florian Mayer, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Philipp Petzschner. They will have to team up and co-ordinate together to bring some glory to their home crowd. Women players from
Germany are making name for themselves and cruising their way up to the Top-10 rankings but men are struggling severely. This might be the reason, German professionals were unable to find eye-startling characters to make them part of this tournament.
Tipsarevic, Troicki and Zimonjic were the successful team who bagged the championship three years ago. They defeated the hosts, Germans, in the grand finale to lift the trophy. Zimonjic was the captain of the team at that time.
He stated, "In Serbia, the first international success of our team was celebrated on a large scale."
Seeing the squads, it is going to be an enthralling tournament to say the least.
