Croatian city Umag ready for men’s beach volleyball action
Croatian City Umag, which is considered a popular tourist destination, is the next stop of European Beach Volleyball Satellite. Third CEV Men’s Beach Volleyball Satellite Tournament of the season is scheduled to take place in Umag from June 13-17.
Stella Maris sports hall in Umag will serve as the venue, which has a seating arrangement for 800 people. A total of 69 teams (2-player teams) from 23 European countries will be on board to contest their skills in front of the bigger audience. The prize
money of 7,500 EUR will be on stake for the successful teams of the competition.
The 2012 Umag Beach Volleyball Satellite Tournament will be opened with the Country Quota Playoffs. The winning duos of CQs will advance to the Qualification Tournament on the second day of the competition. In the next run, the grid of 24 teams will be finalised
for the Main-Draw.
The Main-Draw will cover its length in three flights and top four duos of the tournament will catch the limelight. The final day of the tournament will feature two semi-finals, the final showdown, and classification match for the third position. The Umag
Satellite will complete its run on the fourth day, which happens to be Sunday, June 17.
The host country will enter the competition with six duos. Mario Boras - Ivan Zeljkovic, Niksa Dellorco - Pero Krizanovic, Matija Gracin - Djordjevic Ivan, Tomislav Mudrovcic - Krunoslav Ravnjak, Kresimir Peric - DARKO NOJIC, and Tsimafei Zhukouski - Jegor
Zukovskij will represent Croatia in the Umag Men’s Beach Volleyball Satellite Tournament. The home teams will be equipped with certain advantages in the competition. It is likely that Croatia will be able to make it to the podium.
Nonetheless, the other participants of the competition will also struggle to find a way to the top. The entry for the Umag Satellite closed on May 14 and 69 teams entered their names in the competition. Since there is not much left in the opening of the
tournament, the participants are undergoing extensive training and practice.
The Umag Beach Volleyball Tournament is going to be the third Satellite competition of the 2012 Season. Previously, Dutch City Aalsmeer successfully hosted the first Satellite Beach Volleyball Tournament of the year from January 11-15.
Most recently, the Austrian City Baden hosted a Satellite Tournament from May 23-27. The Umag Satellite will follow the same pattern and the local organisers are optimistic about the success of the event.
