Cross Breeding Parrots?

Ok. I have a male blue crowned conoure and a female quaker parrot. A couple days ago i found an egg at the bottom of there cage! and I have seen the breeding befor too.

Is it ok for them to breed?

Will the eggs hatch?

  1. A conure and a quaker can't breed -- they are from different families and have different DNA. So even if the conure copulated (had s*x) with the quaker, the egg won't fertilize because the quaker's DNA rejects the conure's as "foreign intruder".

    The eggs are laid by only one of the birds, most likely the quaker because she's female, and are infertile. After a while, the bird that laid the egg will lose interest in the infertile eggs and discard it herself. If she doesn't, you can throw out the eggs yourself once she has stopped tending to it. However, your conure and quaker can still be great friends!
