Cross Country Newcomer!!?

Hey guys, I am starting to take alot of interest in cross country. Its seems so fun and intense. Im wanting to join the team but I think they already started training. I have not done cross country before BTW.

I ran a lil bit over the summer, but not enough to have alot of stamina. Im pretty fast in sprinting but maybe I could use that speed at the end of the race. But My mile if it matter is 6 min and 45 secs.(Somthing like that) I know it may not be to late to join because they just started. But should I join or should I just start training for next year? And am I off to good start if my mile is like that? Top 5 in the class :)

  1. Hey, Im going to be a freshman in a few weeks

my 8th grade mile time was 6:45 also :)

I was in cross country in 7th-8th grade

    and joining this year too

Cross country is a very fun sport

You should join  stamina is not a problem

Just breathe in through your nose and out your mouth

and when you're breatheing out make sure to make your mouth

like a circle that way it paces your breath

dont just open your mouth and let the air go out :D

  2. why not try this year just another oppertunity missed if you skip it youll miss out

  3. Yea join

  4. yea definitely join because that's the point of having pre-season training and a coach. you'll get in shape and your coach will give you ways to improve your form and everything so that you'll build endurance and stamina. no worries, by the end of this season you'll be surprised by how good you got if you just stick with it and give it your all!

    good luck!

  5. yes, join join join!

you will make improvements starting right after you start running.

very fast mile try running a mile a day and add an extra lap each day on the days your not running with the team (on a track). then on the days you run with the team use a slow pace. cross country is not sprinting as you would do on a mile.
