Well I am a Junior at a new school so I decided the best way to meet new people is to join a sports team, couldn't make the soccer team since I am out of shape. So I decided to do X-Country to get rid of that..Everyone has been running for 3 weeks while today was my first time. I am about 15 pounds over weight. So I am wondering what type of foods should I eat to gain energy and muscle but not weight, fat weight not muscle weight?

  1. If you start running, you body will produce whatever you need, regardless of what you eat. Your body will build muscle in reaction to the training effect, even if you eat crappy food. But I dont recommend you do

  2. I wouldn't worry too much about food.  Fruit and veggies, like somebody already said, are great.  But really, just avoid eating when you're not hungry, and avoid a lot of fast food types of stuff, and soda.  Soda=bad.  Drink lots of water instead.  Just keep running and you'll figure out what works best for you and lose that extra weight in no time.

  3. Don't worry about gaining weight. If you run right now, and you eat the same foods you do already, you will lose weight because you are running. So try and keep a healthy diet, and with running you will lose weight.

    Good luck!

  4. your best bet would be to eat healthy, start eating more fruits and vegetables. Start cutting back on unhealthy foods such as cookies and cakes to start losing weight. and if you want more muscle you need to work out

  5. just eat general high protein food with lots of fibre.

health bars, fruit and vegetables. Also, DON'T eat snacks between meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon tea and Dinner)

Before you race, it is also good to eat a banana or hot potato chips (potato has high carbohydrates) but do not eat potato unless you are going to exercise.
