  1. An iPod always helps. Or find someone to run with. If anything, plop a treadmill in front of the t.v.

  2. Run in different places that you know well.

also get yourself a running buddy. a friend or adult you trust and can stay with you comfortably. [:

  3. yeah, its usually boring, unless someone running pees themselves.

  4. listen to some music while running.

  5. well the best thing i can advise is get a running buddy! you could also run with an ipod. also try pushing yourself more, challenge yourself to see how fast you can go. good luck!!

  6. Cross country training CAN be boring. I've been to states in cross country and have won multiple road races yet I STILL find running boring.

Here are a few tricks I use.

I-POD: does wonders to spped the time. Now, the problem is you can not wear it in a race and your body starts getting use to the music and won't perform well.

I-POD training: use the songs on your i-pod to dictate your run. Fast song=fast pace, slow song= slow pace.

RUNNING PARTNER: as mentioned it makes the time go faster.

TRAIL RUNS: If you can, never run on the sidewalks. Streets are boring. I always tried to run in parks and the woods if I was out on my own.

DAY DREAM: you know how many "Olympic Golds" and "Chicago Marathons" I won in my head?

TENNIS BALL: I use to bounce a tennis ball a I ran alone or with a friend. You'd be surprised how fast it seems and how fast you run. Without knowing you put in sprints jsut chasing an errant bounce or pass.

CHANGE OF COURSE: I'm presuming you just began the season. Be prepared for track workouts, hills, resistance training.

STOP LIGHT RUN: Try to not stop your run. If you live in an area with many traffic lights you let the lights dictate your run. If the way you want to go has a red light you must turn another direction.

ANGER MANAGEMENT: I've had some of the best runs when I was angry about something. My mom gave me the best 10 mile run of my life. If I got upset I used the anxiety of the anger to stoke a good run.

MINI TIME TRIAL: If you wear a stop watch.  use to say I'm going to try and get to that tree in 30 sec. Then the next stop sighn in 1  min. THrow these things in and it makes things go faster including your pace.

Although Cross Country is a team sport it is still an individual accomplishment. As the racing season comes in you will times and distances to challenge. I took up x-country because of the three challenges it offers like no other sport:

It's you vs others, you vs. you and you vs. nature.
