I am going to Detroit on business. What kinds of i.d. do I need at the border if I'm going by car? I will be crossing over from Windsor. I know I don't need a passport yet...right? Is just my driver's license okay, or do I need something else like my birth certificate???

  1. you only need a passport if you are flying not by car.

What you need is something that will show your citizenship like birth certificate, Band Card etc.  also you need a government ID with your picture on it.

  2. first... everyone needs a passport now. if you were American in the past, you could get thru with just a drivers license and a ssn card. you can thank the terrorists for this change. make sure you have the car documents up to date too.
