  1. Obey the coach and don't slack off. If you are looking to improve your mile time, train by running shorter distances to build your speed. Like if you normally run 1600m try running 800m 2-4 times a week. Just eat healthy and don't eat 2 hours before you run, it will cause a sidestich.

  2. ur sores............ICE ICE ICE! that the only way and will be the only way forever for running. ICE numb the soreness and relieve sore. but to get in shape a week for a meet is not posible srry lol trust ur coauch because he/she will get u better. belive me time trails i ran AND I AM PROUD OF IT a 40:42min! YEA! and at the end of XC for freshman year i ran 23:24! O YEA! lol so dont worry if ur not fast u run/eat well and it all down hill from there

  3. Well i dont think you can get much better in a week but you really should have worked over the summer, im a cross country runner but im in middle school and im 1 of the fastest runners, Well you get better by practice so just run about 6 miles after your cross country practice and also to get rid of sore muscles constantly stretch  and im not kidding if you wanna get better run now and especially in the summer and also in the meet just find someone who is a little bit faster than you and try to keep up with them and maybe itll help hope i could help u
