Cross country meet this saturday advice? ?

yeah i need help to win what should i focus on any tips will do

  1. 1-drink lots of water the night before and make sure you carb up( have some pasta and bread)

    2-make a race plan(if you know the course ahead of time or make it while you are walking the course)

    3-Have a good breakfast( I either have oatmeal and a banana or peanut-butter toast.Oh and don't eat to close to when you run because you will regret it later)

    4-Relax at the starting line( It might be hard but just try to keep your nerves down)

    5- Don't go out to fast at the beginning of the race

    6- Kick it in when you can see the finish line and it's reasonably close to you

    7- Have fun- Be serious during your race but after that have fun

  2. What to eat: I used to eat a banana and piece of toast. I know some guys who use to eat 7 or 8 pancakes. It's best to eat too little as oppose to too much. Especially if you are nervous. It stops the puking if you get too nervous.

    A lot of people get nervous because they are worried about what others think. To heck with them. You go out and challenge yourself.

    During the race try to find someone, team or opponent, and run with them. It makes racing easier.

    Don't go out too hard. If it's your first race you have no idea what's going to happen. It's best to have more energy in the second half of the race. Some are so nervous or exceited they go out to fast and then hurt the second half.

    Remember, there are many other runners out there not just you.

    Most of all, ENJOY. It is competition. Take it serious. But enjoy. That's why you went out in the first place right? To be with friends and you enjoy running. I've never heard of somebody go out for a sport because they hated it.

  3. Eat pasta the night before and get a lot of sleep.  Drink a lot of water the night before and stretch. Also when you wake up just so you don't get  to nervous listen to music that will help you not think about it to much. Eat a banana 1-2 hours before you run. This is a great tip for you. When someone is ahead of you get right behind them that is called drafting and you do 12 percent less work.
