  1. False; alpine skiing is downhill. And I believe the other name for cross-country skiing is Nordic skiing.

  2. This is completley untrue. Cross-Country skiing  is on flat land. Alpine skiing is the same as Downhill Skiing, which is on the slopes.

    Hope this helps.

  3. False, X-country is usually a race on long skinny skiis. Alpine is downhill skiing, most common type in the US.

  4. False.

Cross-country is just that, traveling on skis across snowy country, uphill and down, as well as long stretches of the flat.  Different skis, bindings, and skiing techniques are employed, including special coverings on the bottom of the skis to enable uphill climbing on them.

Alpine skiing is strictly downhill, and often at the highest speed the skiier can handle (and sometimes, faster than that ... hee, hee ....).  Skis, bindings and boots used in Alpine, or downhill, skiing are highly specialized with the benefits of advanced engineering and materials employed to create superb equipment.

Both are demanding and athletic sports.  Some say it takes greater physical endurance to ski cross-country, while the stresses and immense forces involved in serious competitive downhill racing require greater physical strength.

Both are a lot of fun!

  5. False, Alpine skiing refers to skiing in the Alps (Mountains) which is much different than cross country skiing

  6. FALSE.

Alpine Skiing = Downhill Skiing (Slalom, GS, SG, Downhill)

Nordic Skiing = XC Skiing, and 90meter Jumping

Freestyle Skiing = Mogul Skiing, and Aerials

  7. True, All the way

  8. False!!!!!!!!!

  9. false.

  10. Totally false!
