  1. XC ski pro: very low impact on legs and knees.

Good upper body workout (propel yourself with poles)

    Teaches better balance.

    Way more fun!

XC ski con: If you get going fast (downhill) it is possible to hurt yourself.

  2. jogging cross country skiing is BORING!!!

  3. I've done both, I believe x-country is not only better, but more fun. You can x-country up a hill and ski down. There Less impact on the legs, smooth fluid motion, and you can't really get heat stroke. Then again, you can get hypothermia if you over sweat when it is cold. And you also wont slip on ice and break something while x-country skiing compared to jogging in the snow...

  4. XC skiing works more upper body muscle groups than jogging. You will burn more calories and develop tone better through skiing than through jogging.

Additionally, Skiing has much less impact on your bones and joints than running does. While it is easier to fall and injure yourself skiing, the long term negative effects of skiing are far less severe than those of jogging. However, if you engage in trail running, your chances of hurting yourself are even more increased than if you XC ski.

I hate jogging. In fact, I only ever did any running was when I did laps for soccer practice or baseball practice. I'll go XC skiing without even thinking about it.

  5. XC skiing is superb exercise. Much lower impact on your joints than jogging and just as good cardio-vascular-wise. You have almost answered the question for yourself. The best exercise is one that is FUN! The only downside to the skiing is that you may not be able to do it all year round.
