Question:

Cross country training??

i'm not trying to beat a school record or make it to regionals or anything...i'm not real competitve in my running...

im a bout to be a senior in high school and im deciding to run xc for the first time (yah random i know..but i've ran track my whole life and all my friends run xc and so i said what the heck!!) problem is i can barely run 2 mi straight. i also have asthma and i know the breathing effects me a lot but besides that...

what advice do you have on how to complete 3mi straight?? kind of a broad question, but ill take any answers anyone has! thanks so much!

  1. It's all about your summer running. Run in the summer to get your endurance built. Start with 25-30 minutes and when you can get used to it you can work your way up to 60 minute runs, only when you're ready though. You said you were new to cross country so it will be difficult. This way you will be ready to handle the hard and continuous runs that you will have to face when the season starts.


  2. Just go get with your friends and run. Practice will start in just a few weeks anyway. Don't you have a coach? I think the XC coach just might know what to have you do. Is your XC coach the same as your Track coach? If not, do they know each other? Call your friends and get out and run and call the coach and ask for your workouts.
