A friend of mine sometimes get cross-eyed, usually after a few drinks. What I don't understand, though, is that if she closes one eye, she still sees a double image. Shouldn't closing one eye make you stop seeing double image?

  1. may she have a high astigmatism that make vision nearly to two images.....

  2. Yes, she should not experience double vision with one eye closed.  Perhaps that eye is blurry and she is misinterpreting that as double?

  3. Apparent double vison in a single eye is down to uncorrected astigmatism, cataract, or macular distortion.

    Most, most, likely the first.
