Crossfield Jet upsets Hi Rumble in the FEBRUARY STANDARD DUP at Henlow on Feb 2
Crossfield Jet spoiled the race favourite, Hi Rumble’s party, clinching the top position in Thursday’s FEBRUARY STANDARD DUP at Henlow.
The black dog went away very quickly, but the rest of the participants were vulnerable in front of his high speed. After breaking from the sixth trap, N. Savva’s trainee flew like a rocket, reaching the winning post in just 27.75 seconds.
The three-year-old dog, who celebrates his birthday in February, was carrying the winning chances of 9 to 4 – relatively lower than the 7 to 4 betting favourite. However, Droopys Maldini’s son out of Vieris Surething performed like a champion, and
emerged as the only one to finish within the bracket of 27 seconds.
The second slot belonged to the most preferred, Hi Rumble. The high status dog succeeded in avoiding crowd. However, his speed was not good enough to surpass the triumphant runner.
Ace Hi Rumble’s son out of Sizzler Lady reached the post in 28.08 seconds, four lengths adrift of the winner. D. C. Elliott would have been disappointed with his hound’s unimpressive display.
Sundance Jet, who finished third on the chart, made a first impression by picking up an early pace. However, he failed to retain his advantage, moving one step down from the second position.
With the starting price of 11 to 2, the P Simmonds-trained black dog was sent out from the fourth stall. He bridged the area in 28.23 seconds, failing to grab the runner-up position by a couple of lengths.
Landown Lenny secured fourth position on the table. The 6 to 1 odds holder took 28.33 seconds to complete his run. Being crowded left him with no chance to end up among the top-3.
Flamestone, who was the least favourite with 10 to 1 winning probability, managed to pocket the fifth place, beating Salacres Cool, by a head’s margin. Brett Lee’s son out of Pats Flight covered the preset distance in 28.42 seconds.
The last in the list, Salacres Cool’s actual running time was 28.44 seconds. It was certainly a disappointing performance by Disguised’s son out of Lead Boots, who was sent at 6 to 1.
The sixth position came to Crossfield Jet’s way, when he made his last outing on January 28. However, luck favoured the black hound this time around, as he defeated the favourite, Hi Rumble.
