Question:

Crossing Mexican Border Question?

I'm 17 and I will be going to Tijuana alone in a few months. I will be staying for about three days. (Canada to San Diego to Border to Tijuana) then (Tijuana to Border to San Diego Airport back to Canada)

Does anyone know if there are any new policies concerning minors crossing back over the border?

I've heard that I need a signed form (parents) where can I find this form?

I am well aware that Tijuana is not the safest place thank you for any concerns but my question is about crossing the border as of 2008 as a minor.

  1. !st site below gives info for Canadian minors traveling abroad, and has a sample form.  2nd site quotes the Mexican law about foreign minors...read the section on minors under "Entry Requirements."  It is an American gov't website...but quotes the Mexican law, which is the same for all nationalities.

No new policies that I'm aware of.  You should have your birth certificate and a government issued photo ID (like a drivers license).

There is no form, it's just a letter signed by the parents and notarized, saying that you have their permission to cross the Mexican border.  This is done to make it harder for someone to take a minor across the border without the parent's knowledge.
