Question:

Crossing US Canada Border with Illegal Status?

Hello.

If I am an undocumented person (illegal stay in the US) but with a travel document to Canada, will they let me in if I'm driving from the US?

Someone said that the first question border patrols ask is "Have you been out of status in the US?" Is this true?

  1. I would strongly suggest that you  stay in the USA. Crossing the International  border will likely get you arrested by either Canada, or the USA. If Canada  refuses you  entry  and sends you  back to the US side of the border, you will be in an American  jail quickly.

  2. They ask your citizenship, purpose or destination, how long, and what you have to declare. If you have a document to get into Canada I think Canadian Customs will let you in. If you want to get back into the US, that'll be a problem. Even US Citizens get hassled if they don't bring proof of citizenship.

  3. you need to show proof of residency at the border
