My friends and I are planning a trip to Canada next month, but we're all College students and none of our cars are registered in our name. Are we allowed to still cross? What do we need, if anything? Thanks..

  1. Hi, I am an american living in  Canada and have obviously crossed the border many times.  The  car  registration should not be  a problem---they would rarely even ask about it.  However, so as not to spoil  your vacation, you should be prepared.  Have a letter from your parents giving their permission  for you to bring the car into Canada.  Make  sure  you have current proof of auto insurance available too.  Now lets get to what they will ask you for---proof of citizenship.  Every person crossing into Canada needs this.  Obvioulsy a passport is the best documentation but you can still enter Canada  by car without one.  If you don't have one you will need a government issued photo ID (drivers license, state ID card, military ID) and a birth certificate.

  2. get a signed letter from your parents, with a contact number, that might work....

call the border patrol, they will tell you better tho
