  1. You will need your birth certificate for proof of citizen ship (but if you have any other government id its a good idea to take that as well) With you being only 16, you are considered a minor so you will need a signed letter from your parents stating they are aware you are crossing the border  and you are with ? and going to ? and staying for ? at ? and returning ?, (i am sure you get the idea behind the letter) it will need their contact information so that if there are any questions they can be reached to verify that info.

As for your friend only having an N classification on his license, he would have to check with the dept of motor vehicles and make sure that his insurance will cover him while out of his country of residence. Normally an N license has some restrictions on it regardless of where you live so he had best check to see what they may be and how they may affect your travel plans.

  2. I can guarantee you that you will be stopped at the border because of your age . So might as well get proper identification or call Canada Immigration and ask them what is required for you to be ale to cross the border without a hitch .Good luck .

  3. I'm not sure what Canada's policy is for driving across the border if you're under the age of 18, I'd look that up first.
