  1. They want government issued photo id (so a driver's lisence would work) AND a birth certificate, or immigration papers or proof of citizenship.

    OR

A passport.  Passport is the golden ticket to anywhere.

  2. i know that canadians that are minors sometimes need a note from a parent.  usually you wont need it but just grab one with a signature saying its cool for you to go,  wont use it but itll be embaressing getting turned down, it happens, plus birth certificate,  and drivers license if you have it, passports for flying only( for now) but bring it if you have it

  3. a note is only needed if you are under 16. (in that case you also don't need photo id. just a birth certificate and another form of ID)  Just your id and proof of citizenship will be fine since you are over the age of 16.

  4. Yes a 17 year old U.S citizen can cross into Canada as long as you have the right ID...Pass port is the best, best best, way to do it, other wise photo ID, birth certificate, that sort of thing but you age will not be a problem I believe that was your bigest question.

  5. You either need a combination of a driver's license (or other government-issued ID) and proof of citizenship--birth certificate is best and easiest; or just a passport.
