Crossovers?

(I'm talking about in figure skating, of course.)

I can do counter-clockwise crossovers perfectly fine, but I have a huge problem doing clockwise crossovers. Anyone have some tips, or anything? Thanks. :)

  1. bend your knees, keep your head and back strait to keep good posture, its hard so go to some public skates and keep practicing! keep doing them and youll get them, they never go away

  2. Many people have this problem. It's just like being able to right better with one hand than the other. All it takes it practice. Off ice you can try to walk through slowly the crossovers while keeping your arms straight and in the right position. The move you practice them, the easier they will become.

Soon enough you will be able to go just as fast with one side as the other!

                        Good luck and have fun!

  3. Everyone has a 'stronger' side and a 'weaker' side. So, bend your knees and keep your arms out & pratices alot !

  4. just keep trying and dont give up it took a while for me too!

  5. Your right handed I take it? The left over right crossovers are usually harder for people who are right handed. Just keep practicing. Hold on the push and don't rush it.

  6. most  right handed people  have one good side nd one bad side its the same in everyone nd even in the rink on public sessions you can only go clockwise

  7. Everyone seems to have a stronger side and a weaker side.  They just kind of feel uncomfortable!  Just keep practicing them until they feel as strong as your counter-clockwise crossovers.  Be sure to apply the same technique you do on your stronger side.  Practice walking through them.  Use one of the hockey lines, follow the line sideways by walking through the crossover.  Face either end of the rink and step over, feeling the weight transfer and posture.  Good luck!

  8. bend your kness, good posture, focus and practice!

  9. practically everyone is better at one side of crossovers! all you have to do is practice the bad side no matter how wierd you think you look it will pay off when they are good and you can pass your moves in the field tests later on!

really make sure you are pushing hard so you can get more speed and try to mirror your good side.

  10. I used to have the same problem, then I discovered that for some reason I wasn't bending my knees enough during the left over right crossovers. But for the other side (my better side) i was confident and bending my knees so that's why it felt easier. Perhaps you should try it also and I agree that you shouldn't rush to cross over. bend your skating leg, push to glide, hold the left leg out, then cross.

  11. make sure you are down in your knees and your arms are in the correct position. before you try the crossovers again, try practicing your half-swizzles going clockwise. from time to time, pick up your foot and make sure your weight is on the correct foot. then ease into the crossovers.

don't worry, you WILL get it! it's just a matter of time and practicing!

hope this answer helps and good luck with your skating!
