like aida 11, 14, 18 etc is count the same thing?

  1. Aida is a type of fabric/cloth that you can use to cross stitch on. There are a few different types of fabric that you can use. Aida is a very common type and the weave looks different than others and the hole where you put your needle through is easy to see (that is why a lot of people like to use it too).

  2. It is a special cloth that has holes in it. The holes form

    straight lines the you stitch with. That is how you make the

    X's. The different numbers mean how big or far apart the

    holes are. This determines how big the finished product

    turns out to be.

  3. Those numbers mean the amount of the squares/holes on the aida fabric per inch, for example in 14-count there are 14 squares per inch on the fabric. And usually, one cross covers one square.
