I think the 1st one is <MAOIST> - as in Mao Zedong.

A substance undergoing a chemical change = <REACTOR>

Enlivening might = <CHEERY> It's a little bit of a stretch but crossword clues are not always 100% accurate.

And I'm not sure about the last one.  Made away with- can mean stole, like - "That blasted ferret made away with my bagel." So maybe <make> away with, but I don't know, again - it's a stretch.
