Crotch sniffing pooch ... should I go to the doctor or the feminine hygiene aisle?

My mom says dogs can detect cancer, and other malfunctions. There is no pungent smell down there , but the dog heads for my nether regions every time I come home. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening

  1. Neither!  It's a dog thing, you're fine.  :)

  2. Haha you mom doesn't know anything.

Dogs do that because they are checking your smell, they have a strong sense of smell (I don't know maybe you didn't know that if you are listening to your mom) the smell is very strong in the groin area. It happens to everyone at one time or another.

Get over yourself and tell your mom she isn't the brightest bulb in the string.

  3. Your dog is simply figuring out your basic info. Similar to how dogs sniff each others' behinds.

When he does it, simply say "No" or "That's rude!" and turn away. Turn back and if he doesn't sniff you there again, praise him. Repeat this everytime he sniffs you (or anyone else) down there and he will soon learn not to.

  4. Because, regardless of hygiene, scent is concentrated in that area of the body. And your dog can smell all sorts of things that humans cannot. It's very normal, but very bad manners.

  5. That is a standard greeting among dogs, and they greet us this way also.  A dog can detect a lot of information about you this way - your gender, whether or not you are in your reproductive cycle, etc.  It doesn't mean you have anything abnormal going on.  She's just treating you like a dog!
