Stoke City striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 to sign for the Potters this summer.
The English International is currently available in the transfer market as a free agent, after serving out his stipulated deal at Old Trafford. The Red Devils boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson refused to hand him with a contract extension.
During his three-season long stay with United, Owen made 52 appearances for the English giants and bagged 17 goals during this period.
Despite having caught the attention of multiple clubs from across Europe, the 32-year old player wants to sign for a Premier League outfit. According to some reports, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 and Stoke City are closely monitoring the striker’s situation, and have stepped
into the transfer market to seek his signature.
Nevertheless, Crouch, who himself made a switch from White Hart Lane to the Britannia Stadium in order to get more playing time on the field, advised Owen to pursue a move to Stoke.
He compared his situation with that of the forward, explaining that like Owen, he too was victim of neglect in a big club, and advised him to ply his trade with a team where his services will be more valued.
The lanky player is reported to have said, “Coming to Stoke was never a step down... I'd rather play a big part in something smaller than be a small part of something bigger.”
“I know http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 has a big decision to make after leaving a club the size of Manchester United - but I had a similar decision to make last summer.”
Owen, who won the coveted Ballon d’Or accolade in 2001, has also represented Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle United during his illustrious career, which now spans over a period of almost 16 years.
However, given his old age and an apparent lack of demand amongst the top flight clubs, Crouch felt that a move to Stoke will provide him with a perfect opportunity to establish himself as a regular player. He also believed that he will be greeted with a
warm reception by the enthusiastic Potters fans.
“If you want to play regular football and enjoy playing again, this is a great place to be,” he added.
