Crouch was delighted to see his club team-mate finally get rewarded for all the hard work that he has put.
He lauded his mercurial presence in Stoke’s backline and was sure that he will vindicate his manager’s decision of naming him in the squad.
“He has been so consistent. Hopefully he will get a chance because, if he does, he won’t let anyone down,” he told the reporters.
“I have played with him for a couple of seasons now and he has all the attributes to be a top defender. He is strong, good in the air, reads the game well and his distribution is good.”
The lanky striker was himself overlooked by Hodgson, who preferred to name Andy Carroll in his 24-man party.
Even though the 31-year old revealed his disappointment over having lost the favour of the national manager, he refused to rule out the option of a return to the international stage.
He said that at the moment, he was more concerned about performing well for the Potters, but will grab any England opportunity with both hands which falls in his way.
“I will continue to do as well as I can for Stoke, and if anything else happens, then great,” he added.
Crouch has represented his country in 42 matches and got 22 goals under his belt.
