Has your baby had this? My son is 16 mo.'s old and is going through it. They gave him a steroid to help, but it should wear off soon. How long does it usually last, and what are some things I can do to help give hime some releif?

  1. My oldest son has had croup twice.  What I was told to do...and it worked...was I turned on the shower hot, and shut the door to where there is a lot of steam and sit in there with him for about 20 mins, that helps a lot, or if you let him stand in front of the freezer, the cold helps to open their bronchial tubes.  My son had his during the winter time, so I bundled him up and sat outside with him.  With my experience both times, he had it at night....and it went away and he was completely fine after that.  Good Luck!

  2. Use a vapourizer. Have him in the bathroom, with door closed and the shower running hot water - it will steam up, and he'll cough a bit looser than that hard cough.
