Crown Counsel and Dozy Joe joint favourites for the 32Red Handicap
Crown Counsel and Dozy Joe will be joint favourites for the 32Red Handicap at Kempton in England on Monday, March 19, 2012. The class-3 event has a cash prize of £6,663 for the winning horse.
The runners will have to cover a distance of 7 furlong and the going will be good. A total of 13 entries have been confirmed for the race, which will start at 4:50 GMT, and their names are: Crown Counsel, Dozy Joe, Piscean, Hazzard County, Prince Of Burma,
Greensward, Seek The Fair Land, Chilli Green, Five Star Junior, Reignier, Jack My Boy, Ocean Legend and Bravo Echo.
Although the bookmakers have shown confidence in the ability of Crown Counsel, the punters might not be encouraged to place much bets on him, as his recent performances have been quite unimpressive.
The four-year-old colt finished 19th in his most recent appearance, which shows that he lacks the confidence and momentum to win races. Prior to that, he ended up 29th in another event, thus it will not be an ideal thing to risk money
over his victory.
However, Mark Johnston’s trainee is capable of breaking the shackles, as he proved to be a decent runner at the start of his career. He was a consistent performer, but lost rhythm over the past few months. One good show will out him back on track once again,
but he will need some luck to finish on top today.
The race favourite runner will be partnered by veteran jockey, Joe Fanning, who will be aiming to bring an improvement in his horse’s performance.
Dozy Joe has also been given very good odds for victory, as he is in good shape at the moment. Overall, he has participated in 15 races, winning a couple of them. Other than that, he managed to finish runner up and third on three occasions each.
Ian Wood’s trainee performed pretty decently after making his debut in 2010, but he lost momentum and started struggling to some extent. However, he found his form back last time around, as he finished second at Lingfield by just a marginal distance.
Dozy Joe will be ridden by seasoned rider, Luke Morris, who has enjoyed plenty of success at this level and will be looking forward to another decent run.
Piscean, Hazzard County, Prince Of Burma and Greensward will also be the ones to watch out for, as they are quite capable of winning races.
